David Taapken, age 78, of Greenview, passed away on Thursday, February 20, 2025 at his residence. He was born December 7, 1946 in Petersburg, Illinois, the son of Merle and Josephine (Lyons) Taapken. David married Janet on February 12, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV.  Mourning his passing are his wife, Janet; son, Rod (wife Sherri) Taapken; three stepchildren, Amy (husband Jeff) Tuttle, Ray (Laci) Hamilton, and Kati Hamilton; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Donnie (wife Grace) Taapken, Sandra Taapken, Richard (wife Rachel) Taapken, and Barbara Taapken (husband Joe Bothel); and two half-sisters, JoAnn Brady and Jodi Bates. He is preceded in death by a daughter, Alicia Winningham; son, Dustyn Taapken; grandchild, Curtis Taapken; and his parents, Merle and Josephine.  David was owner/operator of Taapken Construction throughout his life.
